Support Us

There are many ways you can support the Smith Leadership Academy achieve its mission of developing high-achieving students of good character who use problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills to inspire others and to catalyze educational, economic and political advancement within their communities and the broader nation. Please consider one of the following supportive opportunities.

Online Donation
We are grateful for your monetary support of the Smith Leadership Academy's educational goals. All donations to this charter public school are tax deductible.

Volunteer Opportunities
We welcome parents, community members, business people, professional athletes and artists among others who are willing to share their talents with our students. Here are a few areas in which the Academy could use help:

  •  Leader-to-Leader Program - The Academy seeks community members representing a variety of professions to share their experiences through an interactive dialogue with the Academy's students.
  • Tutors - The Academy welcomes academic tutoring support from community members who would enjoy working one-on-one with our students.
  • Administrative Assistance/Teachers' Aides - The Academy needs help with a variety of office and classroom tasks.
The Academy has created a "wishlist" of needed items for the school:
  • books
  • technology
  • paper materials
  • tickets to art exhibits, music concerts, theatre productions and all types of sporting events.

You can buy books and other requested items directly online through our Amazon Wishlist.

Board Membership
The Smith Leadership Academy cordially invites community members interested in helping the Academy grow to consider joining the Board of Trustees. This is an exciting time in the history of the school. In June 2010, the members of the Academy's first graduating class will receive their high school diplomas and move on to college - an accomplishment that will make most of them the first in their families to do so.

For those interested in exploring this opportunity of becoming an Academy trustee, please contact the Head of School to arrange a meeting to learn more about the school's mission and vision and to tour the facility.
