Members of the Academy's 8th grade class had the opportunity to meet award-winning author Jack Gantos during a visit to the Fessenden School in West Newton. Gantos is the author of Hole in My Life, an entertaining, personal account of his struggles growing up and finding a focus in life. Smith Leadership Academy’s boys win state's Charter School Basketball League championship

The Smith Leadership Academy’s boys’ basketball team recently captured the Massachusetts Charter School Basketball League championship for middle schools, defeating Prospect Hill Academy 45-37 in a tightly fought game. This is the second MCSBL championship for the Fields Corner-based Academy’s boys’ team. It won its first title in 2006. Down by 12 points
